Dr. Kevin Warrian was born in Kelowna, British Columbia. He attended medical school at the University of Manitoba, graduate school at the University of British Columbia, and completed his Ophthalmology Residency at the Ivey Eye Institute, Canada’s second‑oldest training program. He completed a glaucoma clinical and research fellowship with Dr. George L. Spaeth at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia and was made a member of the International Spaeth Society of Fellows (ISSF).

Additionally, in 2012, Dr. Warrian undertook a two-year medical and surgical retina fellowship at the University of Calgary, followed by specialized training at the University of Miami's Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in 2014, focusing on advanced anterior segment surgery, electrophysiology, hereditary retinal disease, and intraocular ocular oncology.

Over the course of his career, Dr. Warrian has been extensively involved in resident and medical student teaching. He has received faculty-wide teaching awards from the medical school at the University of Western Ontario and has been an invited speaker for the Canadian Diabetes Association and the Canadian National Institute for the Blind (CNIB).

A dedicated educator, Dr. Warrian has received faculty-wide teaching awards from the University of Western Ontario's medical school and serves as a regular lecturer and examiner for the University of Calgary's Faculty of Medicine. He has trained ophthalmology residents and vitreoretinal surgical fellows for over a decade and has served as an instructor at the University of Calgary's Department of Surgery Microsurgical Skills Course.

Dr. Warrian has published original research in many peer reviewed journals and presented original research at national and international conferences. He continues to serve as an invited reviewer for many top academic journals, including: BMC Medical Education, Health and Quality of Life Outcomes, Journal of Big Data, Head and Face Medicine, Scientific Reports, Health and Technology, Heliyon, PLOS One, Journal of the American Medical Association - Ophthalmology, Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, Retina, Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the British Journal of Ophthalmology, and the American Journal of Ophthalmology. He has been recognized by the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) as a Top Reviewer from among several thousand reviewers for Ophthalmology, the most widely read journal published by the AAO.

During his career in Alberta, Dr. Warrian was the Medical Director and Senior Consultant for Visual Electrophysiology at Alberta Health Services' regional Eye Clinic, located at the Rockyview General Hospital. He has served on many committees, such as the Division of Ophthalmology’s Cataract Surgery Committee, Urgent Care Utilization Committee, Retina Hiring Committee, and as a Hospital Site Lead for Ophthalmology in the Calgary Zone. He has served on the Scientific Planning Committee for the Eye Physicians and Surgeons Association of Alberta (EPSAA) and has also held various leadership positions within the Retinal Society of Alberta (RSA), serving as Treasurer, Secretary and President of the society. Currently maintaining a full-time specialized practice in Calgary, Dr. Warrian provides specialized ophthalmology care focusing on intravitreal injections, laser procedures, cataract surgery and vitreoretinal surgery.
